Making Waves: Critical Mass 2017

The National Outdoor Arts Conference

27-28 Nov Milton Keynes

Celebrating Success | Measuring Impact | Moving Forward | Making Mischief

ISAN is thrilled to bring you the 2017 edition of Critical Mass: the National Outdoor Arts Conference, an essential meeting point for everyone involved in Outdoor Arts in the UK and Ireland, from artists, companies, technicians and producers to local authorities, agencies, venues and funding bodies.

  • We’ll look at why we do what we do, who we do it for and how we can do it better
  • We’ll exchange practical knowledge, experience and news
  • We’ll take stock of recent developments
  • We’ll make plans for the future
  • We’ll provide advice, guidance and case studies for new festivals and emerging artists as well as experienced sector professionals

There will be presentations from inspiring speakers, knowledge sharing, the Outdoor Arts marketplace, mentoring and troubleshooting – and an evening dinner party hosted by Festive Road in their exciting cycle and creature-filled creation space.

Working in partnership with Festive Road, The Stables, DestinationMK and with the generous support of Milton Keynes Council, we look forward to two fruitful days of discussions, ideas, networking and planning, whilst the new town of concrete cows celebrates its fiftieth birthday.

Your ticket includes registration, arrival pack, two days of conference packed with speakers, experts, discussion and debate, access to reduced accommodation, transport between MK station, hotels and venues, the marketplace, two lunches at the Stables, one dinner with a drink and entertainment at Festive Road and tea, coffees and snacks throughout.  We’ve aimed to keep the ticket prices affordable, with substantial discounts for ISAN Members.

You can book some accommodation on this site too, and we’re currently recommending the Jury’s Inn as the best hotel for transport although you’re free to book though other sites, of course; just don’t go too far out of the centre, so you can get to a coach pick up point near Jury’s Inn.

Registration will open at The Stables on Mon 27 Nov at 10:00, with the first event starting at 11:00; coach transfers from Milton Keynes Central Station will run from 09:30. On Tues 28 Nov, we’ll be winding down at 16:30, with a bar running until about 19:00. Coaches to the station will run until 19:30.
