New Year’s Honourable Mentions… back to listing
We’re very pleased to see the Outdoor Arts sector represented in the New Year’s Honours list. Bradley Hemmings, Claire Hodgson and Helen Marriage were all made MBEs.
Bradley is Artistic Director Greenwich+Docklands International Festival and has curated the Mayor of London’s Liberty festival since its inception; he was Co-Artistic Director for the Opening Ceremony of London 2012 Paralympic Games and a founder member of the Without Walls consortium of outdoor arts festivals.
Claire is founder and Chief Executive of Diverse City, which received an Unlimited commission to deliver Breathe, an international project that brought together 64 young disabled people to perform at the opening of the Olympic sailing events. Since 2012 Claire has been co-artistic director of the circus company Extraordinary Bodies.
Helen is the Director of Artichoke, which she founded with Nicky Webb in 2005 and was Director of the Salisbury Festival and an Associate Director of LIFT. She was awarded a Loeb Fellowship at Harvard Graduate School of Design – recognising the impact Artichoke has made on the way mass public art events are negotiated and staged.
Congratulations to all three on their awards and it’s great to see such recognition of the impact of the work of the Outdoor Arts sector.
